TweetDeck v0.15.2b Details

[NOTE: because of the large number of Tweets TweetDeck has requested, the first time v0.15.2 is run it may hang for a while on some Windows XP and Vista systems. Once the requested data has been "delivered" the application will come back to life. This will only happen this first time. We are looking into a more elegant solution so this will not happen in the future.]

The second point release of v0.15 beta contains more bug fixes and adds a few features which were always intended to be in the beta release - hence this is only a point release. We are planning a further release (v0.16) for the end of this week which will introduce new requested functionality.

Twitter have updated their API so that requests for the friends timeline (data for All Tweets, local search and group columns) can now return 200 tweets instead of the previous 20. This is great update and should be real improvement for new TweetDeck users.

The way new tweets are handled has been refined and expanded so now new tweets will not force the columns to jump back to the top - which can be rather annoying when you're half way down the column reading a tweet from earlier. With this new behaviour there is a greater need for more prominent notification of new tweets, this will be addressed in v0.16.

Thanks to the voting on http://tweetdeck.uservoice.com a number of URL shorten services have been added to the Tweet box. Simply add the URL you want to shorten to the Shorten URL box, choose the URL service from the drop down menu then press Shorten and the shorten URL will be copied to the cursor position in the Tweet box.

Other fixes in the build include:

  • line breaks removed from Tweets
  • reply/retweet buttons disabled in the Direct Messages column
  • retweeting tweets from Summize now fixed
  • Tweet box maximum length increased to 160 and word wraps
  • long column names have been truncated

As ever please report any "undocumented features" directly (hello@tweetdeck.com) or via http://tweetdeck.uservoice.com.

Next version: v0.16 - "The Notifications Edition" in development.

Hi,
I popped over to the tweetdeck beta page and hit download but that seemed to point to:
http://www.tweetdeck.com/beta/TweetDeck_0_15_1.air
So I changed the 1 to 2 and downloaded that, installed and got a message that a new version was available although the apps says 0.152b at the topleft. Clicking got me the 0.151b again. A wee bit confusing but I think I got there.
Enjoying tweetdeck, thanks.

Can't wait for the "Notifications Edition". You will officially convert this Twirl user.

I note that when Twitter had a S3 problem, tweetdeck couldn't load avatars. But tweetdeck should certainly cache the commonly used ones.

In fact its become non-responsive
