TweetDeck v0.18.1b Details

TweetDeck v0.18.1 is primarily a bug fix release, hence the .1 version number. There should be a much more interesting v0.19 at the end of the week. Here is what has been updated:

  • Added Retweet button for 12seconds videos in the 12seconds column
  • Added a "Tweet Colors" button to the settings window > Colors/Font tab to auto tweet your color scheme (somebody asked for it and it was a 2 minute job :-)
  • Added links underlined in tweets
  • Added single click to activate links - rather than having to click on the column to activate it then the link to actually go there now everything should be a one click operation whether TweetDeck is the application in focus or not
  • Updated hashtags to link to search.twitter.com - previous hashtags pointed to hashtags.com but not all hashtags are supported so have changed url to point to search.twitter.com
  • Fixed global search where contains # character such as #140
  • Fixed encoding problem with url shorteners - twurl was cutting off url to be shortened at & symbol
  • Fixed not remembering primary font bug - this was actually only happening when black was chosen as the primary font
  • Fixed tweet box character count when replying to multiple people
  • Fixed URLs ending with . or ) regular expression
  • Fixed link leakage problem - related to fixed URL regular expression, occasionally if you clicked on the text of a tweet where there were no links, it would link off somewhere completely unrelated - this was actually caused by a link from a tweet above "leaking" over - this should not happen anymore
  • Fixed application quit bug in Windows - in Windows, choosing Exit from the system tray (whilst minimized), or Exit from the menu bar closed the window but not the application, TweetDeck.exe was still running in the Task Manager. This process had to be force quit in order to open TweetDeck again. Now it should quit completely and cleanly.
That's all for this release, see you all very soon for v0.19

Is there a faq? I set up groups but I don't remember how I did and I would like to set up another one. Help?

Hi, please email me hello@tweetdeck.com - can you explain how your TweetDeck is not allowing you to save?

I have 2 monitors and can't move tweetdeck between them. Is this limitation in tweetdeck or air?

I use tweetdeck at work, and love it, but it doesn't retrieve tweets, and the majority of the buttons at the top don't work. I have uninstalled (tweetdeck and AIR), what do I do to get it to work?

Getting an Error# 2032 while trying to install Tweetdeck via the Adobe AIR Marketplace (which says to contact the application author). Previously installed Twhirl with no problems...do I need to uninstall Twhirl for Tweetdeck to install properly, or -- ? Running Mac 10.5.4 on a pre-Intel PB.

Hi, no you do not have to uninstall Twhirl to get TweetDeck to install. Try downloading the air file directly via http://tweetdeck.com/beta/TweetDeck_0_18_1.air

Tweetdeck recently stopped retrieving tweets for me. Other Twitter clients still work. Tweetdeck only retrieves Replies and Search results. Any suggestions for debugging this?

I've been notified of this recently, it seems like there's been an intermittent change in the Twitter API but I'm still investigating. Expect your tweetdeck to magically start working again at some point - seems rather odd. I'll track down what's going on.

Have returned to Tweetdeck, it seems very solid, and I can appreciate the whole extra column things.

While it could do witha little restyling (and removal of unused columns) congrats on making it so effective.

Love Tweetdeck but one thing has me stumped. If I save a group and then close the column - is it gone? I'd like to save groups and then be able to open them up and check tweets from those particular followers on an as needed basis without selecting group members each time.

Hi Pat, unfortunately yes it is gone BUT I'm working on a version which will have more fully featured Group management.

Could you do it fast? ;)
