TweetDeck v0.21 is here - Merry Christmas!

TweetDeck v0.21 is now available and contains quite a few new elements of functionality and two very important bug fixes which have been effecting the update of #searches and tweets being dropped from the All Friends column. The "big ticket" items in this update include a spell checker, your sent DMs show in the DM column, option to have narrower columns, the introduction of TweetDeck Services (more on that in a future post) and the integration of TweetShrink into the tweet panel.

This version is also the first version which requires AIR 1.5 - which may present the odd issue for Linux users. Please see here for tips on how to upgrade to AIR for Linux 1.5 so that TweetDeck will keep working Tips on resolving application issues for Linux UsersAdobe Air for Linux Delivers (if you can get it installed)

Your TweetDeck will auto-update to v0.21 within the next few hours or, if you can't wait, you can manually download it from the tweetdeck.com homepage.

Here are the v0.21 updates in full:

  • Added spell checker
  • Added sent DMs to DM column
  • Added "narrow columns" preference
  • Added confirm box when closing a column
  • Added TweetShrink functionality to tweet panel
  • Fixed bug with missing tweets from All Tweets feed in between your own posts
  • Fixed #searches not updating properly
  • Updated interface to make it slimmer, reduced some UI spacing
  • Added tweet actions now cause tweet to be marked as seen
  • Added logic to auto-add http:// where necessary to urls to be shortened
  • Added double-check so reply column tweet must contain @username
  • Added "unknow" message to profiles where returned data is incomplete
  • Updated "mark as read" to "mark as seen"
  • Updated saving of window size & position and url shortener code
  • Updated logout button location
  • Updated "All Tweets" to more accurate "All Friends" column name
  • Updated 12seconds video to be more in line with tweet UI
  • Fixed hanging when deleting tweet
  • Fixed bug so edited group names update straight away
  • Fixed hanging when marking as read
  • Fixed bug where a cleared column now updates with just new tweets
  • Fixed bug with DM counter
  • Removed auto-update of favorites column
  • Removed cross column marking as read - performance issue, temporary measure
  • Removed cross column deleting - performance issue, temporary measure

Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year!

As an avid developer, I was just wondering what you use to create such fine grained changelogs? They're really the first thing that made me start using tweetdeck a few months ago because it's so nice to know what's happening with applications we use, rather than always having to hunt for changes and seeing if they're any good.

Bill / Ruthe - multi-account support is in development right now so shouldn't be too long

Barry - click on the groups title (at the top of the column) to edit the group members

Dylan - I can look into adding that in if there's sufficient demand for it over at http://tweetdeck.uservoice.com

Bill - it's more a feature to stop you removing columns when you didn't intend to

Swizec - I just make a note of each change made as it's complete, no changelog software :-)

Holly - so do I :-)

jmacofearth - send me your email and I'll email you the air file directly, might do the trick (hello at tweetdeck dot com)

I use Tweetdeck all day. I broadcast on uStream.tv in the evening, playing itunes from the same computer. My viewers hear my voice and my background music AND Tweetdeck "chirps" -- I would really appreciate a volume slider to allow me to choose the relative volume of the chirps, rather than only on/off.

hi there,

i'm still having the same problem that obviously only KDE (Linux) having with Tweetdeck. It install and launches, but it never shows any tweets and only the logout button works.

I've already uninstalled Tweetdeck and Adobe Air (even following the instructions in the Adobe Air Release Notes and renaming the hidden folders), but that didn't change anything. After reinstalling everything, I've been having the same problem as before (I've made a screenshot: http://www.flickr.com/photos/igorschwarzmann/3041268116/).

>

I've been reading, that Tweetdeck works just fine with Gnome, but switching from KDE to Gnome isn't an option for me.

I would love to use Tweetdeck, because it's the single most powerful tool for Twitter, so I would appreciate any help.

Cicking on the ! icon will clear any stored username and password, so if you use this icon your details will not be remembered. If you close the app using the usual close window controls (an x icon top left or top right depending on OS) then your details should be remembered.

I resolved my problem with tweetdeck on linux by removing Air completely and installing it from scratch. To remove Air completely, please follow the instructions given by Adobe themselves: http://blogs.adobe.com/air/2008/12/tips_on_resolving_application.html

I'm still having some issues with Air applications (for example: minimizing to tray is doing very crazy things to my X), but it works just fine enough right now.

Thanks so much for tweetdeck - I absolutely love it!! I'm wondering though if anyone has any suggestions... my @replies column won't show anything. I've tried deleting it, reopening it, and I refresh all the time, but even when I know I have a new reply that just showed up online, it still never shows up in tweetdeck. I've made my own temporary solution up by keeping a search column open with my name which gives me all my replies & any discussion which is great, but I would still like my replies to show up in their column if possible. Any advice, anyone? Thanks again for such an amazing application!!

Please add support for additional accounts, at least one more twitter account! It could show up with a checkbox, just like whether to post to facebook or not. Replies and DMs could just say Account:Replies and Account:DM. I use groups and do NOT keep my "all friends" column up, but I'd imagine you could have an "Account:All friends" column, or just mix them? Thanks, love the 'deck!
